Greystone Waipara Chardonnay 2014

Chardonnay from New Zealand - Canterbury & Waipara
Review Date : 27-Jun-2015
Full straw-yellow colour with pale golden hues and some depth, lighter on edge. This has a full, even and open, voluminous nose with layers of pure white stonefruits melded with white peaches, white florals and mouthwatering, piquant mineral elements, along with flint, earth and nutty detail. The nose has an underlying steely freshness and youthful lift. Medium-full bodied, the palate is softly rich with accessible flavours of white stonefruits along with subtly complexing earthy, nutty and flinty detail. The wine flows smoothly, with some creamy barrel-ferment textures and a positive linear core and good depth and fruit weight. Lifted florals and nutty, toasty oak unfolds, carrying to a dry, fulsome, lingering finish. This is an even flowing, white stonefruited Chardonnay with subtle earthy and nutty complexities and concentrated core. Match with most white meat dishes over the next 5+ years. Hand-picked fruit, WBP and indigenous yeast barrel-fermented with nearly 5% as whole bunches in an open top barrel to 13.5% alc., the wine aged 11 months in 20% new French oak with full MLF. 18.0+/20 Jun 2015 RRP $45.90
