Greystone Syrah 2020, North Canterbury

Syrah from New Zealand - Canterbury & Waipara
Review Date : 16-May-2024
Full, deep ruby-red, slightly lighter on the rim. The nose is lifted and attractive, with aromas of bramble, plum, sweet herb, chocolate and spices. Full-bodied, aromas of bramble and plum entwined with dried herbs, black pepper, chocolate and tobacco. The fruit is concentrated with an integrated palate, unveiling rich herbs, spice and tobacco details. Fine-grained, velvety tannins, along with prickly spice, linger to an opulent, sustained finish. An appealing Syrah packed with vibrant fruit on a rich, textural mouthfeel. Match with roasted lamb shoulder and venison stew over the next 5+ years. Handpicked, wild fermented to 14.5% alc, aged in barrels for 15 months, 25% new oak, unfined, unfiltered. Organic certified. 19/20 pts (95 pts) May 2024 RRP $65
