Greystone ‘Basket Star’ Valley Riesling 2010

Sweet Wine from New Zealand - Canterbury & Waipara
Review Date : 17-Oct-2011
Hand-picked bunches of botrytis-affected Riesling at 34° Brix from the ‘Greystone' vineyard fermented to 10% alc. and 216 g/L rs. Bright straw-golden yellow colour with some depth. Rich, dense and concentrated on nose, this has masses of marmalade and honied botrytis aromas with orange blossom and ripe citrus fruits and an exotic lift. Intensely sweet, excellent acidity provides a fine cut underling rich, luscious and decadent flavours of orange marmalade and honey. Layers of flavour nuances unfold, florals, tropical fruits and raisins are interwoven with the richness. While unctuous and concentrated, the wine carries a vitality and liveliness through the palate to the sustained, lingering finish. Match with rich and creamy desserts such as crème caramel, brûlées and steamed puddings, or serve to mark the end of any special meal. 400 bottles made. (375 ml) 19.0/20 Oct 2011 RRP $40.00
