Greylands Ridge Central Otago Pinot Noir 2013

Pinot Noir from New Zealand - Otago
Review Date : 31-Mar-2014
Clones 115, Abel, 5 and 667 from the ‘Greylands Ridge’ vineyard, hand-picked, destemmed and fermented to 13.6% alc., the wine spending on average 18 days on skins, and aged 10 months in 25% new French oak. Full, dark, deep ruby-red colour with youthful purple hues. This has an elegantly bound, but rich bouquet of spicy black berry fruits entwined with raspberries building in intensity in the glass. Violetty florals, hints of earth, liquorice and a touch of reduction add detail and interest. Medium-full bodied with a degree of elegance, soft flavours of dark raspberries and black cherries are finely concentrated, showing a restrained richness and sweetness. The fruit is guided by fine-grained tannins and harmonious acidity provides energy and drive. Nuances of liquorice and spices unfold, and the flavours lead to a very long, lingering nuanced finish. This is an elegant and stylish Pinot Noir with subtle richness, balance and drive. Serve with pork, lamb and rabbit over the next 5-6 years. 18.0/20 Apr 2014 RRP $35.00
