Greenhough Nelson Chardonnay 2014

Chardonnay from New Zealand - Nelson
Review Date : 22-Feb-2016
Bright, light straw-yellow colour with a suggestion of pale gold, lighter edged. The nose is elegantly expressed with light, tightly bound and clear aromas of stonefruits with a subtle flinty layer, unfolding nutty elements and complexing oxidative detail. Medium-bodied, the palate possesses a concentrated core of white stonefruits and citrus fruits along with subtle nutty oak and fine, flinty detail. The wine follows a grainy-textured phenolic line, with fresh acidity enlivening the mouthfeel, and some underlying alcoholic drive lending power. This is dry in expression, but unfolds gently rich and sweet fruit flavours on the finish. This is a dry and tightly concentrated Chardonnay with stonefruit and nutty flavours. It will develop greater richness over the next 4 years. Match with most white meat dishes. Clones 95 and 15 from the ‘Morison’ and ‘Hope’ vineyards barrel-fermented to 13.4% alc., the wine aged 6 months in 12% new French oak with batonnage and partial MLF. Certified BioGro organic. 17.5-/20 Feb 2016 RRP $26.00
