Greenhough Nelson Chardonnay 2011

Chardonnay from New Zealand - Nelson
Review Date : 18-Jun-2012
Clones 95 and Mendoza from the ‘Greenhough' and ‘Morison' vineyards in Hope, hand-picked and WBP. Fermentation initiated in tank then barrel-fermented in old oak to 13.7% alc. The wine was aged in oak for 5 months with regular batonnage, undergoing partial MLF. Pale straw-yellow colour, lighter on rim. The bouquet is very fine with bright, fresh, aromatic white peach and citrussy fruit notes along with some smoky, nutty elements. Dry and medium-bodied, tightly bound flavours of citrus fruit are intermixed with flint and mineral elements and some oak spice. The palate is driven by racy acidity, and is marked by energy and lively tension. The finish is moderately sustained with citrus and oak flavours showing. This is an elegant and slender Chardonnay with acid freshness featuring. Serve with creamy seafood dishes over the next 3-4+ years. 16.5+/20 Jun 2012 RRP $25.00
