Greenhough ‘Hope Vineyard’ Nelson Chardonnay 2016

Chardonnay from New Zealand - Nelson
Review Date : 12-Jul-2018
Bright, even, light golden-yellow colour with lemon-green hues, lighter edged. The nose is softly rich with a layering of aromatics, featuring a deep heart of ripe white and yellow stonefruits along with citrus fruit melded with creamy barrel-ferment and nutty oak, with some butterscotch MLF adding detail and richness. Medium-full bodied, the palate has a sweetly rich, but elegantly concentrated heart with flavours of ripe yellow stonefruit, citrus fruit and tropical fruit interwoven with creamy barrel-ferment and spicy, nutty oak. The palate richness and depth is enhanced by some butterscotch MLF flavours. The wine has good proportion and line, and flows along a fine-textured line with balanced, fresh acidity, leading to a long finish. This is an elegantly concentrated Chardonnay with sweetly rich stonefruit flavours, creamy and nutty oak and buttery MLF, with good proportion and linearity and very fine textures. Serve with roasted pork over the next 4+ years. Hand-picked fruit from the ‘Hope’ vineyard, clones Mendoza and 15, WBP and indigenous yeast barrel-fermented with high solids to 13.8% alc., the wine aged 11 months in 50% 1 y.o. French oak barriques, undergoing batonnage and 100% MLF. Certified BioGro organic. 18.5/20 Jul 2018 RRP $36.00
