Greenhough ‘Apple Valley’ Nelson Riesling 2014

Riesling from New Zealand - Nelson
Review Date : 27-Nov-2014
Bright, very pale straw colour, near colourless on rim. This has a very pure and refined nose of white florals, limes and fresh apples, revealing nuances of honeysuckle, rainwater, thirst quenching mineral and wet stone elements. Medium-sweet to taste and light-bodied, tightly bound fruit flavours of apples, limes and white florals show with delicacy and clarity. The mouthfeel features pin-point acidity and grainy phenolic textures to balance the sweetness and fruit lusciousness. The palate has a tight core with zesty energy and linearity leading to a long, nuanced finish with white florals and honey. This is a very fine and tightly bound medium Riesling with great fruit clarity and a phenolic line. Serve as an aperitif and mildly spicy foods over the next 5-6 years. Fruit from the ‘Barraud’ vineyard, Upper Moutere, botrytised fruit removed pre-harvest, and fermented to 8.46% alc., 39 g/L RS, TA 8.4 g/L and pH 2.98. 18.0/20 Nov 2014 RRP $21.00
