Grant Burge ‘gb56’ South Australia Shiraz 2012

Syrah from Australia - South Australia
Review Date : 11-Mar-2014
South Australian fruit fermented to 14.0% alc., the wine aged 10 months in seasoned American and French oak hogsheads. Very full, dark ruby-red colour. The bouquet is light and rounded in expression with sulphide reduction masking the dark red berry fruits with an earthy, minerally overlay. Some bacon-like oak emerges in the glass with some black spices. Fullish-bodied, an amalgam of ripe dark red berry fruits, dark plums, spices and earthy reduction forms a fleshy palate with good drive and line. Some alcohol warmth is present, and there is good balance with extract and texture. The palate leads to a dry, light and moderately long finish. This is a fulsome, sweet-fruited Shiraz, marked by some sulphide reduction. Match with pizza and barbecued food over the next 3-4 years. 16.5-/20 Mar 2014 RRP $17.50
