Grant Burge ‘Cameron Vale’ Cabernet Sauvignon 2012

Cabernet Sauvignon from Australia - South Australia
Review Date : 09-Jul-2014
Fruit predominantly from the ‘Cameron Vale vineyard, Barossa, with a small Eden Valley component, fermented to 14.0% alc., the wine aged 18 months in 35% new French oak. Very full, saturated black-red colour, youthful in appearance. This has an elegant and softly packed nose of pure, ripe, blackcurrant fruit with gentle nuances of leaf and mint harmoniously entwined, providing a subtle, fragrant lift. Medium-full bodied, the flavours of blackcurrants and mint are restrained, and quite mellow and matty in definition. The palate has a dense core with light, grainy textures guiding the flow and soft acidity enhancing the rounded mouthfeel. This is quite integrated and the wine carries to a soft, light, lingering finish with blackcurrant and cedary oak elements. This is a soft, gentle and matty Cabernet Sauvignon showing a mellow harmony. Serve with roast lamb and semi-hard cheeses over the next 5+ years. 17.0+/20 Jul 2014 RRP $29.99
