Grant Burge ‘5th Generation’ Barossa Shiraz 2011

Syrah from Australia - South Australia
Review Date : 09-Dec-2012
Very full, very dark, deep, purple-hued black-red colour. The nose is tight and a little unyielding, with dark, spicy black fruits and earthy aromas intermixed with considerable sulphide reduction. Medium full-bodied, this is elegantly proportioned and somewhat shy in fruit expression. Spicy black fruits show with some sweetness, the reduction a little too prominent at present. The palate has a fine-textured line and good acid balance, the mouthfeel fresh and lively. A slight firmness marks the finish. This is a fine-textured and elegant Shiraz muted by some sulphide. Served with barbecued red meat dishes over the next 4+ years. Barossa Valley Shiraz fruit fermented to 14.0% alc., the wine aged 18 months in American and French oak. 15.5/20 Dec 2012 RRP $25.00
