Glasnevin ‘Limited Release’ Waipara Valley Pinot Noir 2007

Pinot Noir from New Zealand - Canterbury & Waipara
Review Date : 06-Nov-2011
Fruit from Georges Road, fermented to 13.0% alc., the wine aged for 18 months in French oak barriques. Dark, deep, ruby-red with a deep heart and garnet-bricking on edge. The bouquet is powerful and solid with complex rustic, savoury aromas of black berry fruits, herbs, earth and minerals. A full-bodied wine, this has full, rugged, but fleshy and near plump flavours of black fruits, dark garden herbs and liquorice. Complexing secondary elements add interest. Quite openly accessible, the tannins are beginning to round out and become supple. The acidity is subdued, leaving a soft core, and a condensed, but sweet finish. This is showing development and secondary interest in a robust fashion. Match with slow cooked red meat dishes over the next 4-5 years. 17.5-/20 Nov 2011 No longer available.
