Glasnevin ‘Limited Release’ Waipara Valley Pinot Gris 2013

Pinot Gris from New Zealand - Canterbury & Waipara
Review Date : 05-May-2016
Full, light golden-yellow colour with some depth, lighter edged. This has a full, softly broad nose with well concentrated and weighty aromas of ripe yellow stonefruits layered with honey and tropical fruits, spice elements and nutty detail. Some secondary, savoury stonefruit elements emerge in the glass. Medium in sweetness and medium-bodied, the palate is rich, plush and honied with flavours of ripe yellow stonefruits, pears and tropical fruits, along with exotic and savoury yellow florals. The mouthfeel is lusciously rounded with a deep core, the textures quite unctuous, lending plenty of weight and presence. Soft acidity enhances the richness and smooth textures, and the wine flows to a long, near-oily finish of honey and ripe fruits. This is a rich and luscious medium Pinot Gris with ripe fruit and unctuously honied textures. Match with Asian and Middle Eastern fare over the next 4-5 years. Hand-picked fruit, indigenous yeast fermented in seasoned French oak barriques to 13.0% alc. and 26 g/L RS. 18.5+/20 May 2016 RRP $24.50
