Glasnevin ‘Limited Release’ Waipara Valley Pinot Gris 2012

Pinot Gris from New Zealand - Canterbury & Waipara
Review Date : 27-Mar-2013
Bright straw-yellow colour with light golden hues, pale on rim. This has an elegant, but firmly concentrated bouquet of ripe yellow stonefruits with complex layers of ripe pears, spice nuances, tropical fruit and minerally, flinty reduction elements. Medium to medium-dry in taste and fullish in body, densely weighted flavours of ripe yellow stonefruits and pears form a harmonious amalgam with interwoven notes of spices and flint. The palate is smooth and flowing with a creamy mouthfeel. Fine lacy acidity provides excellent freshness and a degree of tension, and along with an underlying, subtle, alcohol drive, the palate carries through to a long and sustained finish with spice and nutty notes. This is a complex, layered, harmoniously creamy, medium-dry Pinot Gris. Match with Middle Estern and Asian fare over the next 4+ years. Fruit from the Lindsay ‘Darnley Road’ vineyard, hand-picked and indigenous yeast fermented in seasoned French barriques to 14.2% alc. and 18.85 g/L rs. 18.5+/20 Apr 2013 RRP $28.00
