Bright, full, light straw-yellow colour with lemon-green hues, very pale on the rim. This has an elegantly concentrated nose, quite slender in presentation, but with intense aromas of exotic white and yellow florals with notes of citrus zest, fresh herbs and suggestions of apricot kernels. Some lifted fermentation esters emerge with aeration. Dry to taste and medium-full bodied, the palate is elegant in proportion with intense and concentrated aromatic flavours of exotic florals, white stonefruits and citrus zest notes at the core, Subtle herbal, apricot and nutty elements add interest. The mouthfeel is firm in texture with the phenolics providing structure, and the acidity lends freshness and vibrant energy. Some alcoholic power carries the wine to a long, lingering, firm finish of exotic florals. This is an elegant, but intense dry Viognier with exotic florals on a refreshing, firm and fine-textured palate. Match with Asian and Middle Eastern fare over the next 3 years. Fruit from the ‘Dakins Road’ and ‘Cliffs’ blocks, hand-picked, cool-fermented in tank with 30% warm-fermented in neutral barrels to 14.0% alc. and 1.9 g/L RS. 17.5+/20 Nov 2016 RRP $25.00
