Gladstone Vineyard Gladstone Viognier 2014

Viognier from New Zealand - Wairarapa & Wellington
Review Date : 22-Jan-2015
Hand-picked fruit from the ‘Dakin’s Road’ and ‘Cliffs’ blocks, WBP and fermented in stainless-steel with 20% in seasoned French oak to 13.2% alc. and 0.71 g/L RS. Bright, very pale straw-yellow colour, lighter on rim. This has a stylish and elegant nose that grows in depth with precise aromas of jasmine and exotic, lifted florals, tropical fruit and delicate nuances of ginger and spices. Dry to taste and medium-bodied, the palate is tight and finely proportioned with intense, penetrating flavours of white florals, exotic spices, ginger and tropical fruits. The flavours show clarity and focus, and follow a smooth line with well-managed phenolic textures supported by good power and alcohol drive. Soft, ripe acidity adds to the concentrated and vibrant core which carries to a sustained finish of florals and stonefruits. This is an elegant, dry, linear Viognier with focussed flavours of exotic florals and ginger. Serve with seafood and Asian cuisine over the next 3+ years. 17.0/20 Jan 2015 RRP $25.00
