Gladstone Vineyard Gladstone Sauvignon Blanc 2013

Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand - Wairarapa & Wellington
Review Date : 26-Jun-2014
Brilliant pale straw-yellow colour with slight green hues, lighter edged. This has a very fine and fresh, penetrating nose of white florals, gooseberry fruit, lime and fresh herbs, the aromatics expressed with real purity and clarity. Thirst-quenching mineral detail emerges with time in the glass. Dry to taste and elegant in proportion, refreshing flavours of white florals, limes, green apples and gooseberries show with delicacy. The fruit is carried by a very fine-textured line and the mouthfeel is poised with ripe acidity providing tension, vitality and cut. The wine is tightly bound and leads to a dry, minerally, lingering finish. This is an elegant and pure, detailed Sauvignon Blanc with soft, fine textures and acidity. Serve as an aperitif and with seafood over the next 2 years. Fruit from the ‘Boyd’, ‘Dakins Road’, ‘Carters’ and ‘Home’ blocks, the latter from 25 y.o. vines, a portion WBP and some given skin contact, and fermented in stainless-steel to 13.0% alc. and <1 g/L RS, the wine undergoing batonnage. 17.5+/20 Jun 2014 RRP $25.00
