Gladstone Vineyard Gladstone Riesling 2016

Riesling from New Zealand - Wairarapa & Wellington
Review Date : 07-Jun-2017
Bright, pale straw-yellow colour with slight green hues, a little lighter on the rim. The nose is elegantly concentrated with a rounded core, comprising an amalgam of ripe lime and citrus fruit, savoury white florals and nuances of fresh herbs and chalky minerals. Dryish to taste and light-medium bodied, the palate features an elegantly taut line of lime and citrus fruit with subtle notes of savoury florals, honeysuckle and chalky minerals. The palate has a tightly bound core with crisp acidity enhancing the linearity. The wine flows along a fine-textured line of fruit extract and phenolics, leading to a crisp, dry, thirst-quenching, lingering finish. This is a taut, dryish Riesling with citrus and savoury floral fruit, along with mineral notes on a crisp, mouthwatering palate. Serve as an aperitif and with Thai, Vietnamese or Japanese cuisine over the next 3-4 years. Hand-picked fruit from the ‘Winery’ block, vines 25 y.o., the fruit certified organic, WBP and cool-fermented to 11.0% alc. and 10.95 g/L RS, TA 7.83 g/L and pH 2.95, the wine aged 6 months on full lees. 17.5/20 Jun 2017 RRP $25.00
