Even ruby-red colour with light purple hues on the rim. This has a soft and gently voluminous bouquet of savoury dark raspberry fruit with notes of cherries and plums, along with complexing layers of dried herbs, earth and nutty oak. Medium-full bodied, the palate is softly rich with gentle flavours of savoury dark-red berry and plum fruit entwined with dried herbs and subtle notes of earth and nutty oak. The fruit is supported by moderately extracted, grainy tannin structure, and soft, integrated acidity. The structure and grip carries the savoury fruit flavours, along with some underlying alcoholic power to a long, full finish of dried herbs, earth and nutty oak. This is a soft, mouthfilling Pinot Noir with savoury dark-red fruits, dried herbs and earthy notes on a dry, grainy palate. Serve with casseroles and coq au vin over the next 5 years. Clones 5, 6, 114, 115, 667, 777, 10/5 and Abel from the ‘Dakins Road’ site, fermented partially with indigenous yeasts to 14.5% alc., the wine aged 10 months in 25% new French oak. 17.5+/20 Sep 2016 RRP $39.00
