Gladstone Vineyard Gladstone Pinot Gris 2014

Pinot Gris from New Zealand - Wairarapa & Wellington
Review Date : 22-Jan-2015
Full, even, light straw-yellow colour with some golden hues at heart. The nose is pure and refined with elegantly intense aromas of lifted white florals, white stonefruits and pears. This is fruit-focussed with delicate and enticing perfumes. Dry to taste and medium-full bodied, delicately expressed flavours of white florals and stonefruits rest on a fine-textured palate that grows in mouthfeel and presence. The wine is smooth-flowing with slippery acidity and plenty of energy and tension, the palate driven by underlying alcoholic power. The restrained, aromatic, lifted flavours are carried to a sustained, vinous finish. This is a subtly-flavoured dry Pinot Gris with good freshness and drive. Serve as an aperitif, with Asian fare and poultry over the next 3+ years. Fruit from the ‘Boyd’, ‘Manaia Road’, ‘Home’ and ‘Cliffs’ blocks, fermented in stainless-steel with a small portion in seasoned oak to 14.3% alc. and 3.38 g/L RS, the wine given extended lees contact. 17.0+/20 Jan 2015 RRP $25.00
