Gladstone Vineyard Gladstone Pinot Gris 2013

Pinot Gris from New Zealand - Wairarapa & Wellington
Review Date : 23-Dec-2013
Fruit from the ‘Cliffs’ and ‘Home’ blocks, fermented with a portion in old oak barrels to 13.0% alc. and 2.78 g/L RS, the wine given 5 months lees contact. Bright, full, light straw-yellow colour, paler on edge. This has a very elegant and tightly concentrated bouquet of yellow stonefruits with a cutting minerally edge that builds in intensity, revealing subtle savoury nuances. Dry to taste and medium bodied, the palate shows good presence and vinosity with a subtle, texturual core. The flavours are restrained and somewhat locked-up, revealing clean yellow stonefruits and a little mineral interest. The acidity is firm but balanced, and along with the phenolics provide an austerity to the palate line, leading to a textural, dry finish. This is a dry Pinot Grigio styled wine with firmness, austerity and good weight. It will develop over the next 3+ years to reveal greater richness. Serve with seafood and white meats. 17.0-/20 Dec 2013 RRP $25.00
