Giunta Crunchy Red 2021, Hawke’s Bay

Blended Red from New Zealand - Hawke's Bay
Review Date : 10-Feb-2022
Deep, red-black colour, slightly lighter on the rim. The nose is youthful and fresh, with fruity aromas of cherries, strawberries, plums entwined with cinnamon and cloves. Medium-bodied, succulent aromas of cherries, strawberries and plums have a bright and youthful core; supple powdery tannin carries cinnamon and clove dusting to a dry, moreish finish. The wine is attractive with upfront, juicy fruit; flows smoothly with balanced, vibrant acidity. Serve slightly chilled, match with charcuterie and Croque monsieur over the next 2-3 years. A blend of Pinot Noir (42%) from Central Hawke's Bay, Malbec (34%) from Bridge Pa and Syrah (24%) from Gimblett Gravels, the fruit was mostly destemmed, partial carbonic fermentation, fermented to 13% alc over 13 days, post-ferment maceration for 15 days, finished in tank. 18+/20 pts (91 pts) Feb 2022 RRP $29
