Giesen Single Vineyard Clayvin Pinot Noir 2016, Marlborough

Pinot Noir from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 14-Jan-2021
Deep, ruby-black with a slight garnet hue and some transparency, lighter colourless edged. The nose is alluringly fragrant, packed with black cherries, plums aromatic underlying fragrant black tea, earthy minerals, subtle dark herbs and spices. Medium-full bodied, a broad palate displaying aromas of black cherries, sour plums, deep floral and tea fragrances along with savoury earth, and delicate spice. The mouthfeel is exquisite and silky along a fine structured, elegant tannin line; unfolding attractive aromatic tea and black pepper linger to a long and smooth closing. Acid is lacy and well-integrated, providing freshness and balance to the breadth palate. This is a class Pinot Noir with harmonious flavour balance and attractive aromatics on a silky, structured palate. Match with duck casserole and herb-crusted lamb over the next 6+ years. 19.5/20 pts (96 pts) Jan 2021 RRP $59.99
