Gibson Bridge ‘Tresor Rouge’ Marlborough 2011

Blended Red from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 08-Apr-2014
Red Treasure. From 330 vines, in the proportion of 40% each Merlot and Syrah, 15% Pinot Noir and 5% Malbec, though the percentages in the final blend vary according to season. Fermented to 13.5% alc., and aged in barrel. Dark ruby-red colour with good depth. This has a soft, full and well-packed nose with a core of spicy black berry and plum aromas, revealing fresh herbs and pepper, the Syrah coming to the fore. Medium-full bodied, a soft core of dark berry fruits and dark plums shows with richness and liveliness. Gently layers of savoury herbs, spices and pepper unfold with some curranty elements from the Merlot. The palate is carried by fine-grained tannins and bright underlying acidity, leading to a long, concentrated finish. This is a fresh, but soft-textured blended red with an array of flavours featuring currants, plums and spices. Match with roast lamb and beef over the next 5-6+ years. 330 bottles produced. 17.5/20 Apr 2014 RRP $65.00
