Gibson Bridge ‘Sweet 16’ Marlborough Botrytis Pinot Gris 2011

Sweet Wine from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 08-Apr-2014
Bright, deep orange colour with golden hues on the rim. The bouquet is full, dense and softly layered with aromas of ripe tropical fruits, crystallised citrus fruits, dark marmalade, honey and caramel all seamlessly interwoven and lifted by piquant volatility. Very, very sweet, the palate is thick and unctuous and densely packed with harmoniously integrated flavours of ripe tropical fruits, honey, marmalade and toffee. The flavours are restrained rather than lifted and meld with the soft, rich textures. Discrete acidity underlines the thick, near oily flow, providing sufficient energy and tension to carry through to a very long, lingering finish, the nuances just continually unfolding. This is a liqueur-like dessert wine with unctuous textures and soft, decadent layers of flavour. Match with steamed puddings and toffee-flavoured desserts over the next 8-10 years. 100% botrytised Pinot Gris from 16 rows with 663 vines, hand-picked and cool-fermented to 9.9% alc. and 246.5 g/L RS. (375ml) 18.5+/20 Apr 2014 RRP $65.00
