Gibbston Valley ‘GV Collection’ Central Otago Pinot Gris 2015

Pinot Gris from New Zealand - Otago
Review Date : 13-Jul-2016
Bright, very pale straw colour with green hues, near colourless on the edge. This is somewhat reserved on the nose with fresh and steely aromas of white stonefruits tightly bound with subtle mineral detail, unfolding suggestions of exotic rose-petal florals, honeysuckle and spice. The aromatics are pure and possess intensity. Dryish to taste and medium-full bodied, the palate is finely proportioned with tightly concentrated flavours of white and yellow stonefruits along with delicate notes of honeysuckle, rose-petal florals and spices. The fruit has richness, which is balanced by a taut mouthfeel with very fine textures and oft acid freshness. Some underlying power provides drive and line and the wine flows with some unctuousness to a sustained finish of stonefruits and florals. This is a tight, but rich dryish Pinot Gris with stonefruit and floral flavours and underlying power. Match with Asian and Middle Eastern fare over the next 4+ years. Fruit from three Bendigo sites, hand-picked, WBP, with cool and warm ferments in stainless-steel to 14.0% alc. and 6 g/L RS, the wine aged 5 months on fine lees. 18.0+/20 Jul 2016 RRP $28.00
