Gibbston Valley ‘Gold River’ Central Otago Pinot Noir 2015

Pinot Noir from New Zealand - Otago
Review Date : 15-Nov-2016
Even, dark ruby-red colour with lighter purple hues on the rim. This has a firm nose with a moderately deep and concentrated aromas of dark cherry and raspberry fruit melded with dark herbs and subtle notes of minerally reduction. Medium-full bodied, the palate features soft, rich and fulsome flavours of dark raspberries and plums entwined with dark herbs, revealing a core of raspberry liqueur and subtle mineral detail. The mouthfeel is full and juicy with supple tannin extraction and structure, and integrated, soft acidity. The wine carries to a juicy and plush, fleshy finish with bright, dark-red berry fruits, fresh acidity and some grip. This is a full, rich and juicy, dark raspberry-fruited Pinot Noir with supple tannin structure. Match with lamb, beef and venison dishes over the next 4 years. A blend of 50% Bendigo and 50% Gibbston fruit, fermented with very little whole bunch to 13.5% alc., the wine aged 9 months in seasoned French oak. 17.5/20 Nov 2016 RRP $30.00
