Gianni Gagliardo ‘Cannubi’ Barolo DOCG 2007

Nebbiolo from Italy - Piedmont
Review Date : 30-Jun-2012
Fruit from the ‘Cannubi' site, Barolo, fermented to 13.5% alc., the wine aged in new barriques, spending 24 months in wood. Full, even dark ruby colour with garnet hues. The bouquet is very full, voluminous and overt, packed with ripe dark berry and plum fruits, along with prominent new oak toast and spiciness. This is a sweet-fruited wine with flavours of ripe, dark plums which are well-balanced and integrated with the new oak toastiness, surprisingly harmonious and attractively balanced. Fine-grained and supple tannins support the fruit, but while significant, allow real accessibility and approachability. The textures are smooth and highlight the fruit expression through the palate. Oak cedar and spicy plum fruit flavours emerge on the long, sustained finish. This will be enjoyable over the next 8-10+ years, but may keep longer. Very much a modern style with international appeal. 19.0-/20 Jun 2012 RRP $206.00
