Geyser Peak California Cabernet Sauvignon 2012

Cabernet Sauvignon from USA
Review Date : 15-Sep-2016
Dark ruby-red colour with some depth, lighter on the rim and youthful in appearance. This has a light and tightly bound nose with aromas of blackcurrants and black-berried fruits, along with some stalk, leaf and herbal nuances, unveiling cassis notes with aeration. Medium-bodied this has an elegant and gently concentrated heart with restrained blackcurrant and blackberry fruit flavours. The wine flows with linearity, unfolding leaf and fresh herb notes. The palate is guided by a lightly extracted line of tannin, with balanced and integrated acidity. As the wine flows, the flavour recedes leading to a soft finish of blackcurrants, herbs and stalks. This is a light, reserved Cabernet Sauvignon with soft blackberry and blackcurrant flavours along with herb, leaf and stalk notes and a modestly, structured line. Match with herb-marinated lamb and beef dishes over the next 2+ years. Fruit from northern California fermented to 13.5% alc., the wine given oak contact. 15.5-/20 Sep 2016 RRP $15.99
