GeorgeTown Vineyard Central Otago Pinot Noir 2011

Pinot Noir from New Zealand - Otago
Review Date : 18-Mar-2014
Moderately full, dark, deep ruby-red colour, lighter on rim. The bouquet is fresh, fragrant and intense with well-concentrated aromas of ripe black and red berry fruits that unfold, revealing spices, liquorice and fennel herbs, as well as a little resinous oak. Medium full-bodied, the palate features supple, juicy red berry fruit flavours along with a little herbal underlay. The tannins are soft and smooth, with balanced acidity providing good linearity. This has suppleness and vitality, along with accessibility, but a fine core, the flavours carrying to a moderately sustained finish with some seasoned oak and herb elements. This is a supple, juicy and bright-fruited Pinot Noir with some herb notes. Serve with Mediterranean-inspired fare over the next 5 years. Clones 114, 5, 777, 667, 115 in order of most to least, given a cold soak and 50% indigenous yeast fermented with approx. 15% whole bunch to 13.9% alc., the wine aged 11 months in 27% new French oak. 365 cases made. 18.0/20 Mar 2014 RRP $45.00
