GeorgeTown Vineyard Central Otago Pinot Noir 2009

Pinot Noir from New Zealand - Otago
Review Date : 14-Aug-2012
Full, dark ruby-red colour with good depth, some youthful purple hues showing. This has a full, voluminous bouquet, packed with ripe, warm, dark berry and cherry aromas, revealing oak spices and nuances of secondary gamey development. Full-bodied, this is a fulsome and mouthfilling wine showing dark raspberry fruit flavours along with violetty florals and Asian spices. Solidly packed, the tannins are supple, but the underlying acidity provides good energy and liveliness. The wine has a full, rounded finish which flows smoothly, the dark fruit flavours long and sustained. This fulsome, ripe Pinot Noir is rounded and approachable now, but will keep 5-6+ years. Match with roasted red meat dishes. Predominantly clone 114 with smaller portions of 777, 5, 667 and 115, given a 5 day cold soak and indigenous yeast fermented with 17% whole bunches to 13.9% alc., the wine spending 20 days on skins and aged 11 months in 30% new French oak. 283 cases made. 18.5-/20 Aug 2012 RRP $44.95
