Georges Road ‘Noble’ Waipara Riesling 2013

Sweet Wine from New Zealand - Canterbury & Waipara
Review Date : 22-Sep-2013
Riesling fruit, 95% botrytis infected, picked at 35°Brix, from the ‘Georges Road’ vineyard harvested over two passes, pressed once, and indigenous yeast fermented to 13.0% alc. and 85 g/L RS. Beerenauslese level. Bright straw-yellow colour with depth, lighter on rim. This has a tightly concentrated nose with a soft melange of aromas with yellow florals, lime, marmalade and honey, with musky botrytis and a delicate lift. Medium-sweet to sweet in taste and with good body, the palate has a firm and driven core of flavours showing exotic florals and citrus fruits, entwined with herbs and musk, the botrytis quite restrained. The mouthfeel is lively with balanced acidity and a fine grainy line underscores the palate flow, the textures suggesting unctuousness. The acidity and extract carry the palate to a long, sustained finish with wild honey, herb and musk flavours. This is a lively and firm-driven botrytised Riesling dessert wine with exotic citrus, herb and musk flavours. 75 dozen made. (375 ml) 17.5+/20 Sep 2013 RRP $28.50
