Georges Road ‘Block Three’ Waipara Riesling 2012

Riesling from New Zealand - Canterbury & Waipara
Review Date : 27-Dec-2012
Bright, pale straw colour with slight green hues, near colourless on rim. This has a tightly bound, very fine and delicate nose with pure lime and citrus fruit aromas infused with notes of minerals and wet stones, all expressed with great clarity. Medium to off-dry to taste, delicate, lacy and crisp flavours of minerals, limes and white florals are beautifully poised on a palate underlined by very fine acidity. The mouthfeel is one of tension and poise, with excellent linearity from a refined textural thread providing drive. The phenolics are enveloped by the residual sugar, and the wine has a very long, lingering, soft-textured finish. This is a beautifully refined, off-dry Riesling with purity and poise, exuding sheer finesse. Serve as an aperitif and with fine Asian cuisine over the next 5-6 years. Fruit from the ‘Georges Road' vineyard, hand-picked and WBP, indigenous yeast fermented to 11.5% alc. and 24 g/L rs, the wine spending time on lees. 250 dozen made. 19.0-/20 Dec 2012 RRP $23.50
