Georges Michel ‘La Reserve’ Marlborough Pinot Noir 2009

Pinot Noir from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 23-Mar-2012
100% Pinot Noir harvested as whole cluster and fermented to 13.5% alc., the wine aged 13 months in French oak barriques. Moderately deep garnet-red colour, pale on rim. This has a softly concentrated nose of dark red berry and cherry fruits, dark herbs and nuances of earth, with some depth. Medium-bodied, the fruit is a little shy in presentation, with soft flavours of dark red berries and savoury dark herbs and a little bitter reductive nuances. Moderate extraction has provided supple tannins and accessibility, with a rounded mouthfeel. The acidity features and carries light savoury cherry and herb notes on the finish. This is an approachable and supple Pinot Noir with reserved fruitiness. Serve with firm fleshed seafood, poultry and pork over the next 3-4 years. 16.0+/20 Mar 2012 RRP $33.00
