Pinot Noir from New Zealand - Central Otago & Waitaki
Review Date : 30-Aug-2022
Deep ruby red, lighter on the rim. The nose is full and fragranced, with aromas of black cherries and plums interweaved with dark herbs and smoky nuance. Medium-bodied, dark cherry and plum aromas are bright with good energy, unfolding smoke, thyme and a hint of peppery spice. Lively acidity supports a smooth flow and enlivens the broody, dark fruit. Fine-grained, supple tannins provide a light structure alongside an earthy element. This Pinot Noir shows dark fruit with vibrant acidity layered by thyme, a smoky earth tone and a fine-textured mouthfeel. Match with duck and wild boar over the next 5+ years. Fermented to 13% alc. 18.5/20 pts (93 pts) Aug 2022 RRP $40
