Gardet Champagne ‘Brut Reserve’ NV

Sparkling Wine from France - Champagne
Review Date : 26-Sep-2011
This is two-thirds Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier with one-third Chardonnay. 25% reserve wine added, aged on lees 5 years, the dosage being 5 g/L and the wine disgorged late 2010. Full, dark straw-yellow colour with some golden hues, this has a moderately persistent bead. On bouquet, full, rich and soft with strong toasty overtones, this is backed by plenty of yeasty autolysis and layers of yeast extract notes. Dry to taste, this is a solid, near-robust wine with soft, rich yeasty, toast and black fruit flavours, quite open in expression, enhancing the breath and subtle fruit sweetness. A little softer in effervescence, the finish is moderately sustained.  Sep 2011  RRP $59.99
