Garden of Light Matakana Roussanne 2010

Other White from New Zealand - Northland & Auckland
Review Date : 05-Dec-2012
Fruit from the ‘Big Cock' vineyard on Matakana Road, WBP and fully barrel-fermented by indigenous yeasts to 13.9% alc., the wine aged 9 months in seasoned French oak, undergoing 100% MLF. Bright straw-yellow colour with green-gold hues, paler on rim. This has a full and voluminous nose with gentle and restrained aromas of tropical fruit, apricot kernels, minerally lees notes, nutty oak and creamy MLF elements all harmoniously presented. Dry to taste and full-bodied, lusciously ripe flavours of stonefruits show with succulence. The mouthfeel is soft and rounded, quite mouthfilling and with breadth. The acidity is in the background and the alcohol drive and warmth to the fore, carrying the rich flavours to a sweet finish with oak and buttery nut flavours. This is a full-bodied and rich Roussanne wine with breadth and plenty of generosity. Match with roasted poultry and pork dishes over the next 3+ years. 50 cases made. 17.0+/20 Dec 2012 RRP $39.00
