Fuzzy Duck Hawke’s Bay Merlot 2014

Merlot from New Zealand - Hawke's Bay
Review Date : 16-Apr-2015
Dark, deep ruby-red colour with black and youthful purple hues. This has a moderately full nose with good depth and density of ripe blackberry and bright dark-red plum aromas, the fruit quite primary in expression, revealing some spice an liquorice nuances with aeration. Medium-full bodied full and solid, up-front fruit flavours of ripe dark plums and berry fruit are supported by good tannin structure and grainy grip. The flavours fill the front palate and hints of chocolate and liquorice emerge. The wine carries to a soft-textured, dry finish with light black fruit notes. This is a full, up-front black berry and plum flavoured Merlot with good grip and dry texture. Match with barbecued and grilled red meat dishes over the next 2+ years. Hawke’s Bay fruit fermented to 13.5% alc. and 2 g/L RS, the wine bottled without oak contact. 16.5/20 Apr 2015 RRP $12.99
