Fromm ‘La Strada’ Marlborough Pinot Noir 2013

Pinot Noir from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 07-May-2015
Moderately deep, dark ruby-red colour with slight purple hues, lighter on rim. This has a soft, full and ethereal nose with gentle waves of ripe, black cherries and dark red berry fruits, along with plum fruit and lifted violet florals and spice. The aromatics grow in breadth and presence, revealing dark herbs and raspberries with aeration. Medium-full bodied, bright, lusciously juicy dark red berry fruit flavours show with liveliness and vibrancy. The fruit is enlivened by refreshing, lacy acidity and carries the tight core with plenty of energy and tension. Layers of raspberry liqueur and dark herbs unfold. The tannin extraction is fine-grained and the wine follows a sinewy line leading to a crisp, fresh, lingering finish. This is an elegant, bright fruited and refreshing Pinoto Noir with a fine core and sinewy line. Match with wild duck and pork dishes and Asian fare over the next 5-6 years. Hand-picked fruit from the ‘Fromm’, ‘Clayvin’, ‘Quarters’ and ‘Yarrum’ vineyards, a blend of 10 clones, fully destemmed and indigenous yeast fermented with a high portion of whole berries to 13.5% alc.,, the wine spending 2-3 weeks on skins and aged 16 months in French oak, 10-15% new. 18.0+/20 May 2015 RRP $39.95
