Fromm ‘La Strada’ Marlborough Chardonnay 2011

Chardonnay from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 24-Jul-2013
100% Mendoza clone from the ‘Brancott Road’ and ‘Clayvin’ sites, vines 10-15 y.o., mainly WBP, and barrel-fermented with indigenous yeasts to 14.0% alc., the wine aged on lees with 100% MLF. Bright, pale straw-yellow colour with slight green hues, youthful in appearance. The bouquet is elegantly proportioned and refined in expression with intense, interwoven aromas of citrus and white stonefruits, white florals and subtle mealy, nutty and flinty detail. Medium-bodied, a core of white stonefruits and citrus fruits is the feature, with nuances of florals, nuts and flint that add interest. The fruit is vibrant and bright, and with balanced acidity has good drive and energy. Very fine textures underline the palate and fruit and carry the flavours to a long, subtle-flavoured, dry finish with mineral and flinty notes. This is an elegant, refined and fresh Chardonnay with tight citrussy fruit and flinty, minerally interest. Match with seafood and poultry over the next 4-5+ years. 18.5-/20 Jul 2013 RRP $37.00
