Frizzell Martinborough Pinot Noir 2011

Pinot Noir from New Zealand - Wairarapa & Wellington
Review Date : 12-Apr-2013
Light, even garnet-hued ruby-red colour, light on edge. The nose is light and softly presented with restrained aromas of dark red berry fruits, dark plums and attractive liquorice and spice notes. Medium-bodied, light, primary red berry fruit flavours show with a gentle sweetness. Some spiciness adds interest and detail. Modest tannin extraction and soft, supple textures provide a rounded, gentle mouthfeel, but there is sufficient acid liveliness for freshness and palate drive. The flavours lead to an elegant finish featuring plums and spices. This is a light, very accessible, soft-textured Pinot Noir featuring subtly sweet fruit. Match with antipasto, risotto and poultry over the next 3+ years. Hand-picked Martinborough fruit, 70% destemmed and fermented with a high portion of whole berries to 13.5% alc, the wine aged in oak. 16.5+/20 Apr 2013 RRP $23.95
