Fruit from the Wairau and Awatere Valleys, cool-fermented in stainless-steel to 13.0%alc. and 5 g/L rs, the wine aged on lees. Bright straw-yellow colour with light golden hints, pale on rim. This has a full and voluminous bouquet with up-front and openly accessible, lusciously ripe gooseberry fruit aromas, building in intensity to show tropical fruit notes and flinty minerals. Dryish to taste, and medium-bodied, soft and luscious gooseberry, lime and passionfruit flavours show with good impact and form a well-packed core. The fruit expression has a degree of stylish restraint and soft acidity carries the flow smoothly through mid-palate. The flavours lead to a subtly mouthwatering and dry finish with good length. While possessing a bold and voluminous bouquet, this is a stylishly restrained, mouthwatering, gooseberry fruited Sauvignon Blanc that will match seafood, poultry, salads and vegetables over the next 2 years. 300 dozen made. 18.0-/20 Mar 2013 RRP $21.95
