Frizzell Hawke’s Bay Chardonnay 2012

Chardonnay from New Zealand - Hawke's Bay
Review Date : 12-Apr-2013
Hawke’s Bay fruit, a portion fermented cool in tank and the remainder warm barrel-fermented to 13.3% alc., the wine undergoing batonnage and 100% MLF. Bright straw-yellow colour with light green-gold hues, pale on rim. The bouquet is gently full and softly packed with aromas of savoury citrus fruit, yellow peaches and a subtle amalgam of integrated mealiness, oak toast and butterscotch. Medium-bodied, soft and light savoury citrus fruits infused with notes of biscuits, oak and butter form a palate with good weight and presence. This is well-balanced with a little graininess of texture and fresh acidity, the mouthfeel bright and accessible, possessing a completeness. The flavours lead to a moderately long and sustained finish with citrus and nutty flavours. This is an approachable and balanced medium-bodied Chardonnay with savoury citrus flavours. Serve with most white meat dishes over the next 3 years. 290 dozen made. 17.0/20 Apr 2013 RRP $21.95
