Frescobaldi ‘Nipozzano’ Chianti Rufina Riserva DOCG 2012

Sangiovese from Italy - Tuscany
Review Date : 15-Dec-2015
90% Sangiovese and 10% other reds from the ‘Nipozzano’ estate, fermented to 13.0% alc., the wine 25 days on skins and aged 24 months in seasoned barriques. Bright, even, dark ruby-red colour, a little lighter on the rim. The bouquet is softly packed with harmoniously interwoven aromas of dark red and black cherry fruit, dried herbs and spice notes, along with savoury undergrowth nuances. Medium-bodied, the palate is softly concentrated and layered with flavours of savoury dark red cherry and red berry fruits entwined with plums, herbs, earth and spices. The mouthfeel is soft-textured and harmonious in balance, with good body and presence. Integrated acidity adds to the soft depth and density, and the mellow textures and grip carry the wine to a light, dry, savoury finish. This is a gently-layered, harmonious and savoury fruited Chianti Riserva with soft textures and good presence. Match with casseroles and slow-cooked game meat over the next 4-5 years. 16.5+/20 Dec 2015 RRP $38.99
