Frescobaldi ‘Castiglioni’ Chianti DOCG 2014

Sangiovese from Italy - Tuscany
Review Date : 15-Dec-2015
Bright, vibrant, dark ruby-red colour with slight purple hues, a little lighter edged. This has a fresh, bright and elegant nose with aromatic red cherry fruit entwined with red florals, some fresh herbal nuances and lifted whole berry fermentation confectionary elements. This is attractive and fragrant. Medium-bodied and elegant in proportion, the palate features lively and bright red cherry fruit entwined with piquant fresh herbs and red florals forming a fine core. The mouthfeel is lively and follows a fine grainy textured line with bright, underlying acidity, unfolding herbal and peppery nuances along with the aromatic fruit. The wine carries to a light-textured, zesty fruited finish. This is a fresh, vibrant and lively, aromatic fruited Chianti with red cherry, herb and floral notes. Serve with antipasto, tapas and pizza over the next 2-3 years. Sangiovese and Merlot fermented to 13.0% alc., the wine spending 11 days on skins and 6 months in tank with microxygenation. 16.5+/20 Dec 2015 RRP $25.99
