Francis Ford Coppola ‘Director’s Cut’ Dry Creek Zinfandel 2009

Zinfandel from USA
Review Date : 03-Aug-2011
A blend of 89% Zinfandel and 11% Petit Sirah, aged 14 months in 50% new American and French oak. Almost impenetrable black-red with purple hues, this has a full, ripe and exotic nose of ripe blackberries and boysenberries with dark plum and sweet oak lift. A full-bodied wine, this combines vibrantly, plummy, near-plump black fruit flavours with notes of raisins and prunes, black ink and toasty oak, all quite lush and sumptuous. The palate has a line of fine textural grip underlining the juiciness, but this is up-front and thoroughly approachable now, and will be enjoyable over the next 4-5 years.  Aug 2011
