Francis Ford Coppola ‘Director’s Cut’ Alexander Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2009

Cabernet Sauvignon from USA
Review Date : 03-Aug-2011
100% Cabernet Sauvignon fermented to 14.5% alc., the wine aged 24 months in 50% new French oak. Very dark, deep, purple-hued black red in colour, this has deep and ripe aromatics of blackberry fruit with nuances of blackcurrant and mint, along with oak lift. Full-bodied, yet with a degree of fineness if not elegance, this has rich, luscious blackberry and blackcurrant fruit flavours, the succulence and brightness enhanced by excellent acidity. Oaking is harmonious and the palate is framed by fine-grained, significant tannins which carry through to a sustained, nuanced finish. This is in the riper spectrum of expression, but the Cabernet Sauvignon core is clear. Drink over the next 6-9 years.  Aug 2011
