Framingham Marlborough ‘Select’ Riesling 2015

Riesling from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 25-Oct-2015
Bright, even, light straw-yellow colour, lighter edged. This has a very fresh and tightly bound nose with intense and finely penetrating aromas of lime fruit lifted with nuances of sherbet, piquant white florals and nuances of honeysuckle and herbs. The aromatics are beautifully pure and detailed, and possess a refreshing cut. Medium-sweet to sweet in taste and light-bodied, the flavours of limes, white florals, apples and honeysuckle are very tight and finely concentrated. The palate is pure, pristine and focussed with a refined, mouthwatering line, and refreshing, lively, lacy acidity. Intricate floral, citrus and apple-like nuances enhance the sweetness and richness, and the wine carries to an elegant, long lingering, thirst-quenching finish. This is a very elegant, pristine, pure nd focussed medium-sweet Riesling with freshness and vitality. Serve as an aperitif and with mildly spicy Asian cuisine over the next 5-6+ years. Fruit from the ‘Back Block’ of the estate around the winery from 34 y.o. vines, hand-picked at 21.9° Brix and WBP, and fermented to 8.5% alc., 71 g/L RS, TA 9.0 g/L and pH 2.85. A fruit-pure Spatlese style. 1,558 bottles made. 19.0/20 Oct 2015 RRP $35.00
