Framingham Marlborough ‘Select’ Riesling 2010

Riesling from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 23-Jan-2012
Single estate wine from 29 y.o. vines, fruit hand-harvested from the Framingham ‘Front Block' WBP and fermented to 8.0% alc., 9.0 g/L TA and pH 2.8. Made in a spatlese style. Bright, pale straw colour, light on rim. This has a very delicate bouquet of white florals with subtle complex layers of minerals, flint, toast and honey. Medium sweet, there are very subtle and fine, detailed flavours of lime fruit, honey and minerals along with a faint toastiness, forming a core and palate presence that has line and length. The palate is underscored by lovely lacy, racy acidity that adds to the luscious nature of the wine. The finish is very long and carries flavours of green apples and honey. This is a refined and subtle Riesling with delicacy and a lively richness that will make it an attractive aperitif or a wine to match mildly spicy Middle Eastern cuisine over the next 4-6 years. 18.5+/20 Jan 2012 RRP $34.95
