Framingham Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc 2011

Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 23-Jan-2012
Fruit from 8 sites in the Wairau Valley, mainly cool-fermented in stainless-steel to 13.0% alc., with a small hand-picked portion in barrel with lees-stirring and MLF. Brilliant, very pale straw-yellow colour with slight green hues, quite pale on edge. The bouquet is still very tight, being fine and elegant in expression, showing limes, gooseberries with hints of tropical fruits and minerals, but unfolds in the glass to grow in volume. Dry to taste, this is elegantly proportioned with rich flavours of gooseberries and passionfruit that subtly build and become mouthfilling. There is excellent acid vibrancy and the wine has tension and detail, with fine textures that lead to a sustained, dry finish. This is a wine that will unfold and reveal its detail and finesse over the next 2+ years. Match with shellfish and Asian cuisine. 17.5+/20 Jan 2012 RRP $21.95
